Five Fun Things to Do in the Catskills This October
There’s always something going on up here north of NYC, especially in October. The leaves are turning and it’s getting cooler - the perfect time to enjoy the splendor of the Catskills.
Take a Fly Fishing Lesson
The Beaverkill Valley Inn has our fly fishing instructor Nick at the Inn every Saturday throughout the fishing season, which ends October 15. With our mile of private Beaverkill River, complimentary fly fishing gear, and our very own casting pond, you’ll become an amateur angler in no time. Book your fly fishing lesson when making your reservation here.
Take a Haunted Theater Tour at Rivoli Theater in South Fallsburg
The historic Rivoli Theater was built in the 1930s and is a magnificent ode to Art Deco architecture. Take the scenic route there for a Haunted Theater Tour in the month of October. With three floors of frights, it’s a great way to support the local arts community here in the Catskills.
Catch a Live Production of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”
Damnit, Janet! The Forestburgh Playhouse has live Friday and Saturday night showings of cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Dinner is served at 6 and the show is at 8 - get your tickets here!
Run a 5K or Half Marathon for a Good Cause (and Enjoy Free Beer, Too)
Want to get some exercise in the fresh Catskills air? Want to benefit a good cause? Want some free beer? Whether you can run a half marathon with ease or prefer a kinder, gentler 5K, the 2nd Annual Livingston Manor Half Marathon is a super fun event. Held on October 19, this event benefits a local youth enrichment camp. Registered Participants receive a free beer from Catskill Brewery, a performance t-shirt, and custom finisher medal.
