Best Places to Go Skiing and Snowboarding in the Catskills This Winter
Skiing is one of the most fun winter activities in the Catskills. Whether it’s a challenging ski course, a family-friendly ski day, or cross-country skiing through the forest, it’s a great way to spend a winter day.
Here’s a list of our favorite spots to ski in the Catskills.
Beaverkill Valley Inn, Lew Beach
If you’re a guest of the Inn, you can enjoy our scenic grounds and trails for cross country skiing. We even have skis and equipment for you to borrow. Skiing not your thing? We have snowshoes, too! Book your stay at the Inn here.
Belleayre Mountain, Highmount, NY
Located about 40 minutes from the Inn, this is one of the most popular ski resorts in the area. With 50 trails and 8 lifts, there’s plenty of winter fun for all activity levels. You can get day tickets or a frequent skier pass. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as tickets can sell out fast. Belleayre is beginner-friendly - you can rent ski and snowboard gear, and they offer lessons for all ages.
Plattekill Mountain, Roxbury, NY
Located about 45 minutes from the Inn, Plattekill Mountain has 38 trails for all levels of skiing and snowboarding ability. Buying tickets online in advance saves you money and is the best way to get them before they sell out. They also offer private lessons - you can choose one-on-one or of groups of up to four. For non-skiiers/snowboarders, there’s also snowtubing.
Windham Mountain, Windham, NY
Located about an hour and fifteen minutes from the Inn, Windham Mountain is the perfect place to take your family. They have 19 trails and 4 lifts over 143 acres, and also have a fun tubing park with kids’ snowmobiles. On holiday weekends, they also have fireworks displays and other events.
