If you’re trying to stay socially distanced and enjoy outdoor activities this winter, the Catskills region has plenty of fun outdoor activities for you to enjoy even in the cold weather. From skiing to ice-skating, and even winter horseback riding, here are our favorite spots for winter fun this season.

The Beaverkill Valley Inn also sets up an ice rink for guests in the winter - it’s open weather-permitting in the winter season. A note that our rink is only for guests of the Inn and is not open to the public, so if you want to take a spin on the ice, book your stay at the Inn here. We even have skating gear for our guests to borrow, or you can bring your own. If you’re staying at the Inn, our rink is the closest and most convenient, as many of the others in the region are in the Hudson Valley.

The Bear Mountain Ice Rink is in the Hudson Valley, and offers rentals and inexpensive skating sessions. Check out their website for more info.
Kiwanis Ice Arena is also located along the Hudson, about 1.5 hours from the Inn. Check their website for schedules and info before you plan on going - sometimes the schedule and availability can change.

There are quite a few snowmobiling locations in the Catskills, and many dedicated trail clubs that work hard to keep the trails safe and well-maintained.
If you have your own snowmobiles, a good place to start would be the Central Catskills Trail Association.
If you’re visiting and want to rent snowmobiles at a ski resort, there are also plenty of options.
Windham Mountain has dedicated kids and youth snowmobiles and a track for them. Rip Van Winkle Ranch is another place to rent machines and get the best tips on where to use them.
