Introducing Saturdays with Nick - Fly Fishing Instruction at the Beaverkill Valley Inn

Thanks to our friend Dana DiPrima from XOXOFarmGirl for the great photos from her fly fishing session at the Inn!

The Inn is thrilled to have the famed “Catskill Angler,” Nick Rubicco, as its official fishing guide. Nick is an experienced fly fishing instructor and all-around great guy - our guests love learning from him! Nick will be at the Beaverkill Inn every Saturday during fishing season for fly fishing and casting instruction.

About Nick Rubicco, the Inn’s Fly Fishing guide:

No matter the weather or river conditions, you’re guaranteed to have an unforgettable day out fishing with the Inn’s fly fishing director. Nick is known around these parts as The Catskill Angler, Nick has over 35 years of fly fishing experience in the Catskills.

Nick has been a NYS licensed guide since 2007. He is a bamboo rod builder and a Wulff trained casting instructor. Nick is a member of the NYS Outdoor Guide Association, Friends of the Upper Delaware River, Catskill Fly Tyers Guild, and the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum.

Intro to Fly Fishing:

One of the two Saturday tours Nick will be offering is Introduction to Fly Fishing. It’s perfect for anglers of any skill level, especially those who are new to the sport or who may be a bit rusty. It includes one hour of basic casting instruction at the Inn’s casting pond. Don’t have equipment? Don’t worry. The Inn has everything you need to borrow for the day.

Once your casting instruction on the pond is finished, you walk a few steps to the Inn’s private mile of Beaverkill River for an hour of on-stream instruction. Once your lesson is up, stay on the river to enjoy the rest of the day practicing this storied sport!
