Fun Things to Do in the Catskills This Holiday Season | Updated 2019
If you’ll be heading to the Catskills this holiday season, there are tons of fun holiday events to enjoy. Whether it’s with the kids, with your significant other, or with a group of friends, here are some of our favorite things to see and do this year.
Shop at Bethel Woods Holiday Market (and Get a Woodstock History Lesson)
Turn your holiday shopping into a fun-filled day at Bethel Woods. First, head to the Woodstock Museum to learn all about the historic festival that took place on the grounds of Bethel Woods 50 years ago. Then enjoy their 10th Annual Holiday Market, filled with the wares of artists, crafters, and specialty food vendors, on December 7th and 8th. Create art and memories with the whole family in the Holiday Craft Studio and don’t miss Photos with Santa in the Museum at Bethel Woods in front of the psychedelic bus – giving this family-favorite activity a 1969 twist! Sing Your Heart Out at a Winter Solstice Concert
Pretend you’re living in Game of Thrones at the River Revels winter concert, based on the winter solstice traditions of Medieval times. Enjoy delicious food and well-known carols - sing along or just enjoy the music. This is a great event for kids, too! Check it out on 12/14 in Narrowsburg. Learn more here.
Join in a Messiah concert with the Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra
Dust off your score of holiday season classic, Handel’s “Messiah,” and join the Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra in a Messiah sing along. A festive party will follow. Check it out on December 7 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Monticello. Learn more here.
Kick off the Holidays in Hurleyville
Kick off the holidays in the liveliest Little Hamlet in the Catskills! Main Street will be bustling with festive activities and holiday cheer for all ages. Frozen II will be showing at 2pm and 6m at the Hurleyville Arts Centre. Hike along the Milk Train Rail Trail with John Conway at 2pm. Visit with Santa at the Hurleyville Arts Centre anytime between 11am and 3pm. Get a head start on your holiday shopping by visiting the new Hurleyville General Store, checking out the art available for sale at Gallery222, and by popping into the Buck Brook Alpaca’s Pop-Up Shop at Fiber on Main. When you’re done with your holiday merriment, head back to the Inn for a toasty nitecap by the fire. Ready to book your holiday season stay at the Beaverkill Valley Inn? Get in touch here.
